Michigan is a state of the north-central United States. Michigan was incorporated as the 26th state in 1837. French advernturer first traveled this area in 1618, and the French remained with a nominal control till the end of the French and Indian Wars (1763), when the region got in hands of Great Britain. It was handedover to the United States in 1783, although the British held some areas until 1796. The Michigan Colony was developed in 1805 with Detroit as its capital. Lansing is the state capital (since 1847) and Detroit is the largest city. Population estimated as: 10,100,000. Michigan is the only bi-peninsular state.

Detroit is the largest city of the Michigan State. It is best known as the “Automotive Capital of the world.” Detroit is located at the centeral-official three-county metropolitan regions - Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties.
Among the city's educational institutions are Wayne State University and the University of Detroit Mercy, the Detroit Institute of Arts is renowned.
