Oklahoma City is the capital of Oklahoma state, U.S. It received settlement during the Oklahoma land rush in 1889. Oklahoma City was incorporated as a city in 1890 and considered as the state capital in 1910. It boomed rapidly after the discovery of petroleum in the area in 1928. The largest city in the state and its chief commercial, financial, industrial, and transportation center, it is the principal marketing and processing unit for the livestock industry. It is center to the National Cowboy Hall of Fame, Myriad Gardens and an annual rodeo competition. In 1995 it was the site of a fatal act of domestic terrorism, when the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building was bombed, killing 168 people and injuring 500.

The city has varied light and strong industries and the nearby Tinker Air Force Base, a logistics center with one of the world's major air depots & is also an important source of civilian employment. The population of Oklahoma city as per 2005 Census is estimated as 531,324.

CLIMATE: The Climate of Oklahoma City is moderate through most of the year. The average temperature is about 60.1 F and very colder though the winter months (January, 45.9 average) and warmer in the summer months (July, 80.7 F). Oklahoma City receives more tornadoes than any other city in the United States.
